Pixie Lott’s all new Video for her latest track Gravity another trip into the high glitz world of Miss Pixie Lott, nothing wrong with a little bit of glamour in your life and Gravity by Pixie Lott delivers on that.
So sit back grab the popcorn and enjoy the show from one of the best pure pop acts around and its not like they are thing on the ground.
But Pixie Lott stands out amongst the also ran’s as someone who understands the music they produce and is at easy with those limitations and in truth makes those limitations her music’s defining feature.
Rihanna has released the New Video from the latest track off her Platinum selling Album Rude Boy, we are pleased to give it one of its first airplays online today, although not always an artist we would praise to the rafters in this case the girls done good.
Cutting back on all the usual hype and production just makes it standout as one of her best tracks to date, if your a fan than its a must watch if not you still going to be entertained by one of the best performers around.
Dandy Andy My Lonely Valentine Featuring Carmen Castro on Vocals isn’t such a lonely valentine now its due to be released on the 21st of March on the poplide/Island label, but its still an instant Electro POP come Disco classic with hints of classic 70′s disco diva’s thanks to Carmen vocal talents and is kept up to date thanks to the talents of the illusive Dandy Andy collective of DJ’s and producers in Paris.
Although not to everyone taste it certainly has charm which after all isn’t that what you want from what should have been a perfect Valentines song but then again that could be a little bit too cheesey.
In any case take My Lonely Valentine for what it is a great slice of french electro disco from the same stable as daftpunk and enjoy its fleeting presence.
The groups other work featuring the vocal talents of Carmen Castro can be found on Myspace as well as some of the better music download sites as well as the bad ones.
The Thermals new single Canada is out now taken from their forthcoming album, Canada was written whilst waiting in Buffalo New York before escapingto Toronto as that’s what you seem to do there.
Its really a an ode to a better place in a tongue in cheek way and reminds you of early weezer tracks in its sence of humour, it also makes you think how bad a town has to be to get you to pen a tune about Canada.
That besides Canada is a catchy bit of American College rock from the Portland based band taken as such its well worth a listen its available for download on iTunes for those who don’t like iTunes you can listen to the track without paying the man at Myspace
The Thermals Canada a great piece of American College Rock 7/10
Japanese Voyeurs release their second single on their own label Slimeball Records `a double A side it promises a lot and more than delivers from its first moment, sounding like the offspring of a union of post grunge and punk in some seedy back room.
This is what some artists wish they could produce, sexy and visceral and downright seedy, its a breath of fresh air in a era of perfectly crafted but ultimately soulless bands this one demands you sit up and take notice with gut wrenching guitars and its wall of noise .
That love sound is probably the bands best number too date with influences drawn from Sonic Youth, Pumpkins and classic Hole mixed in with throbbing Gristle it shouldn’t work, but its brought off with enough passion that it hangs together, this can be seen in the video which is perfect for the band quite dark but equally entertaining for those without a nervous disposition.
The London five piece comprise Romily Alice on vocals and guitar, Tom Lamb on Bass, Johnny SEymour on Guitar, Rich Waldren Keys and Steve Wilson on Drums
The band have released a free download of their previous song to mark the release of That Love Sound you can download Dumb here from their Sicking & Creaming EP, That Love Sound is available on 7″ vinyl and CD and download for those who don’t know how to find a record shop.
The band are playing the Scala London on the 5th March as part of Facedown
Amy Macdonald’s Brand new single is out 1st of March and is the first track from her forthcoming album A Curious Thing which is released on the 8th, Amy has been promoting her new material for sometime and its good to hear her voice again on record which seems stronger than ever, it was always going to be the question how she was going to follow up on a number one album which has made her the most successful singer song writer in recent years.
Don’t tell me its over really gives you the answer although there are those folk influence mainly due to the phrasing and the openess of her vocal performance Amy Macdonald’s song writing has moved on, its still full of emotion but its more contemporary without following the trend for modern singer songwriters to indulge in the dramatic elements and make something more important than it is overall the whole thing is tight and worth the time spent listening as you end up wanting more.
That in itself is a rare thing a album that in some respects lives up to expectation of what came before.
Motion Picture Soundtrack the Kent based alt/rock band are building on the release of their critically acclaimed Departure EP with Glass Figures which comes from their forthcoming album on endgame records due for release on the 22nd February.
Glass Figures marks their maturing as performers into a band with a much darker sound still with the orchestral arrangement and soaring vocals that was evident on the Departure EP, but now with added confidence to explore beyond the stereotyped alt/rock genre.
This in part could be down to the time taken on this single and the album with contributions from the producers of the verve stone roses and radiohead to name but a few which have allowed the band to develop from their first EP to this which could mark their emergence as a major band.
Motion Picture Soundtrack Glass Figures their best song to date…..Out 22nd Feb
From the band hotly tipped as a one to watch in 2010 comes where in the world their first true single on Vertigo, previously the band have built a cult following as one of the best live acts around.
The single is due for release on march the 29th and will really show if the band can make the transition from a great live act to major artists in their own right, it won’t be for the lack of talent if Where in the world is anything to go by for which the video has been released which gives a taster of what this band are capable of.
Although you can draw comparisons between goldhawks and aspects of U2 its not down to copying , particularly with Where in the world its anthemic nature will always draw the comparison, as claims go it isn’t a bad one to have levelled against you.
you can catch Goldhawks headlining and in support of the courtneers at the following venues.
