Scream marks a return to form for Ozzy who has been sadly missed of late by those who like old school metal, not that the current talent out there is lacklustre.
Its just that over the years Ozzy has become the master of this genre , however everything else he’s been involved he hasn’t been recording new material.
Now this isn’t bias listening to the album you get a sense that this was fun to record slightly tongue in cheek and with a few journeys into heavy material Scream does mark a return to form for Ozzy and provides something for every fan
Now there aren’t any stand out tracks on the album you would not expected it, its just solid heavy rock with title tracks like scream leading the way.
Pixie Lott has come a long way in just under a year with the launch of her debut album for which this is the tittle track to this month supporting Rihanna during her UK tour, the future is certainly looking bright for this young star.
From the amount of effort going into marketing this performer this could be another number one single for her to add on top of her 1 million sales too date , to see what you think we have the video of the single here.
Thats right you heard it hear Gogol Bordello are the official support for RATM much heralded Finsbury Park free show, from what promised too be a great show with RATM performing to a sell out crowd it has just got better.
Gogol Bordello are known for their extremely lively stage shows so should be a keen foil for the shear aggression of RATM stage presence, either way the show has just got a lot better .
As free shows go this promises to be a good one so you better have your tickets now
This is the second outing for Taylor Hawkins of the Foo Fighters own band the Coattail Riders and from what was a project band has emerged a very tight classic heavy rock band.
Their second album Red Light Fever which is released on Columbia Records is very accomplished, not that it doesn’t have a couple of weak tracks overall the balance is on the positive side.
In some respects this record is a little bit retro in its conception the songs follow a well crafted formula set down by the likes of Led Zep drum intro guitar vocal chorus then lead guitar break and finally guitar and drum close, whilst that may sound a little bit restrictive its that restriction that creates some truly great tracks.
The standout ones are James Gang and Hell to Pay as these show the range of the band and Taylor Hawkins although you do detect some Foo Fighters DNA in the mix, this can’t be taken as a bad thing .
Red Light Fever shows that Taylor Hawkins can emerge from the Foo Fighter shadow and produce an album that reminds you how good classic rock can be

Kassidy have been around for a little while now and have been gaining interest following the release of their debut E.P Rubbergum which was released on the Vertigo Label, The band are about to release their debut single Stray Cat off of their first Album, if Rubbergum is anything to go by it will be different to everything else out there at the moment.
So we decided to catch up with the Band prior to their set at the Barfly in Camden and get the story on them .
Speaking with Barry from the band who is the main motivator behind the band, saying that the band are more democratic than that as we discovered when speaking with them.
They formed about two years ago in Glasgow mainly through chance encounters since then Kassidy ” who have taken their name from a play on Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid ” have been developing their own sound based around very stripped back arrangements and three part harmonies, which have overtones of crossby stills and nash but much dirtier with a heavy influence of old school R’n'B, This comes from the bands early interest in American electric blues.
Speaking with the band its not as simple as that, if it was then the band wouldn’t have caught the attention of Vertigo they are also influenced more recently by the likes of nirvana as well as old school funk all these come together from the various members of the group to produce something which is uniquely theirs.
In regards to the Rubbergum E.P that came to the bands Label fully formed as a series of Demo’s worked on by the band in the studio in Glasgow based around four guitars and three voices, the band decided to keep this electro acoustic as partly out of a matter of principal and also because it suits their style of music, asking them about the relationship with Vertigo it was refreshing to hear that the label has given them the room to develop based on their own terms and haven’t tried to spin the band into something they are not which shows a good working relationship.
This could be in part down to the bands very strong vision of what and who they are but also that they have come in to the relationship from a position of strength either way the support the label has given the band is certainly evident in what will be the first single from the new Album Stray Cat produced by Jim Abiss who has worked with Arctic Monkey’s, Kasabian, Noisettes and the Stereophonics, it marks a more developed sound for the band whilst still keeping true to what they started out doing back in Glasgow two years ago.
Again speaking with barry from the band who is in principal the lead vocalist the songs on this album came in partly formed and where worked on in the studio by the band with the help of Jim Abiss, this has meant using quite a lot of studio time to work songs up to the standard demanded by a major label release, this in itself is a rare thing these days given the demands major labels can place on artists in terms of time and money.
However some people won’t get this band at first as they are in their own admittance rather idiosyncratic in their outlook on things and in their musical style, but they grow on you however with their sheer energy and enjoyment in what they do.
This is what carries you through what is in effect at first glance Americana with a Scottish bent until you realise this is a unique band, this is what I came away with from meeting the band and later seeing them play live at the Barfly is that this band are a one off creation not a clone or a mixture of different styles in search of a market but have a integrity about them and a passion for the tradition behind their music but also a sense to make it theirs.
Paloma Faith has added a extra date to her sold out run at the o2 Shepherds Bush Empire the 31st of March is the newly added date.
If you are quick you may be able to grab a ticket for this new date , however don’t be surprised if they have already gone such is the popularity of this up and coming artist.
Unlike a lot of artists this isn’t down to slick marketing, with such a strong look and sense of style and more importantly a great vocal ability Paloma Faith has carved her own niche.
